Each team brings unique talents with them that we often use in some way in the DR and Haiti. Most teams participate in one or more of the following activities on the field.

Construction
Every trip will likely involve some form of construction project. Teams are trained or instructed in various activities by a national foreman and G.O. staff to tie rebar, mix and pour concrete, lay block, dig foundations, paint, etc.

Sports
Teams made up of athletes who enjoy a particular sport lead Sports Clinics throughout the week and typically end the week with Tournaments showcasing the skills learned under the leadership of our G.O. Ministries Sports Outreach staff. We have had teams lead baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Medical/Dental
Medical professionals have a unique opportunity to share their talents by assisting G.O. Ministries supported national doctors in Medical Clinics across the island. On many occasions, these Medical Clinics are the only opportunity many people in the villages will have to see a doctor and receive treatment. Medical professionals are encouraged to attend these trips, however, non-medical people can also help with signing people in, handing out assigned medications, and assisting the medical professionals. This is a great opportunity for those considering the medical field as a career to get hands on experience. All Medical teams must collect and bring the needed medications for the Clinics.

Children’s Ministry
The children in the DR and Haiti are hungry for attention. Many teams prepare songs, puppets, activities and crafts for the children to participate in. However, the most important thing is simply spending time and sharing God’s love with these precious little ones!

Ongoing Training
To offer ongoing training for the National pastors and Christian workers, some teams have the opportunity to lead effective seminars on the field. We have had ministers, counselors, and others who specialize in a specific area lead seminars on Christian Parenting, Youth Ministry, Marriage and Family, How to Prepare Effective Sermons, Financial Peace, etc.

Preaching/Teaching
We support the efforts of many churches throughout the island who welcome special guest speakers. If you don’t speak Spanish or Creole, a team member on your team fluent in those languages can translate for you or we will have translators available for you.

Worship
Dominicans and Haitians love the art of music! Musicians are encouraged to learn songs in Spanish or Creole and are welcomed to lead worship or share special music in the churches. Musicians who would like to train or give lessons are also welcomed!

Special Talents
All of our teams bring special talents to the field that aren’t listed here. Please let us know how you are gifted and we will try to find a way for you to use those gifts.
