- For God to break the chains and to open doors for us
- For us to be strong followers of God
- To heal my bad back after the operation
Bienvo’s life seemed to be sailing along nicely. He grew up in Santiago in a Catholic home with his parents and 12 siblings. At a young age, he was taught construction skills and later attended construction school, graduating with the title/degree of “Master of Construction.” From this knowledge and experience he was able to make a decent living. He enjoyed his work and life was good, he thought. Then one day, while working in Salcedo alongside some missionaries, he met Brook, G.O. Ministries’ U.S. president. Brook introduced him to Gabriel, G.O.’s Caribbean president and conversations about the Lord began to take place. Bienvo recalls that the Holy Spirit convicted him and his mind and heart became opened to Jesus. He saw the hypocrisy within many of his Catholic friends who attended church on Sundays, but spent much of their free-time drinking and not living godly lives. He wanted something more. So, at age 31, he gave his life to Christ and has walked with Him ever since.
Bienvo still enjoys working construction and he has been at it now for over 30 years! For the past nine years he has worked with G.O.’s construction ministry, bringing expertise and a positive attitude to the job site. His goal is to put in a good day’s work on a consistent basis whether he’s working locally or traveling, for example, to Haiti.
As with any team, minor conflicts arise from time to time, but Bienvo strives to be a solution to any problem by trusting God while being faithful to the work at hand. He is also committed to talking with others about Christ, giving his testimony whenever he can.
Bienvo is married to Marilus and they are parents to Winifer (11), Wilber (8), and Wilson (4).
