Bio:
Throughout childhood, Alan lived in the neighborhoods of Hoya del Caimito in Santiago with his parents and three siblings. Today, as a Christian man, husband, father, and G.O. missionary, he continues to live and minister in the same area where he grew up.
Although he was brought up in a loving family, Alan experienced conflict at home as an adolescent. At age 17, while attending a G.O. sponsored basketball camp put on by a team from the states, he was drawn to the testimony of a boy about his age. Alan could relate to this American peer’s struggle with family and parents, but the boy talked about something Alan didn’t have, yet needed--a relationship with Jesus. It was then, in 1997, that Alan gave his life to Christ.
Now he serves God in his hometown, working with G.O. in a variety of ways. As the Director of Education in G.O.’s Sports Ministry, Alan helps run the summer sports camps. He works with high-risk kids, teaching them not only about sports, but about character and what it means to be godly men so they can stop the negative cycle that is so prevalent among them. Alan also teaches bible studies and English to other national workers. He taught himself English and is often called upon to translate for visiting groups, including those participating in pastor training and medical teams. In addition, Alan fills in the gaps where needed by facilitating construction teams, running errands and driving teams to wherever they need to go.
Although he is kept busy with his wife, Jackie, as they raise their young twin daughters, Amelia and Stella, Alan plans on going back to school to finish his degree in Industrial Engineering as well as earn a theological degree. He hopes to be able to apply his knowledge in these areas to further serve God through G.O. Ministries’ endeavors. In addition, he is involved with fundraising activities with his with Jackie, including a creative way to educate people about G.O. and raise funds--running half-marathons. He is currently training for his third race.
