Bio:
Pedro, known across the island as “El Conejo” (The Rabbit), started sports outreach in Santiago many many years ago. After a very successful 10 year career in the Dominican professional basketball league, he began teaching at a public school and helping kids learn how to play basketball, baseball and volleyball. He worked alone in Hoya del Caimito for many years and is now very happy to have other men working alongside of him that share the same heart for the youth of the D.R. His passion is to “give the youth the same opportunities he had in life”.
Pedro still teaches in the public school system and runs the basketball portion of the sports outreach. Everyone always knows when he is around because he doesn’t go anywhere without his whistle. If you ever need to find Pedro, your best bet is at the basketball court in Hoya del Caimito. The neighborhood basketball court has a rabbit painted in the center in honor of him and his success. He has a wonderful heart for the youth of his country.
