- For my faith to grow and be closer to God
- To help me with my studies at the university
- That God will help me find a wonderful Christian wife
Schera, a pastor's son (his father is a G.O. supported national) from Haiti, grew up in a Christian home with six siblings. He can't remember a time when he wasn't a Christian, but at age 14 he was baptized during the church's yearly anniversary celebration. From then on, he began to serve in the church with gusto through a number of ways, including singing and playing the accordion.
As he grew up, he taught second grade at G.O. school in Haiti and later decided he'd like to attend a university to further his education. Wanting to invest into the life of this bright young man, G.O. Ministries brought him to Santiago in 2008 and made a commitment to pay for his tuition as he commutes to a university in Santo Domingo several days a week. Schera, in turn, works for the ministry. At one time, he was a coordinator of construction for G.O., but he now serves by washing the clothes left by teams that are then distributed to nationals in need. And since he is gifted in languages (Schera speaks Creole, French, Spanish and English), he also serves as an interpreter for the ministry in a variety of settings and places, including: the Bateys in the D.R. and in Phaeton, Grande Savane, La Hatte, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
In the future, Schera hopes to continue his education by adding classes from the English Institute located in Santiago. When he graduates from the university, he wants to serve his fellow Haitians and help bring solutions to the many problems of Haiti by becoming a diplomat.
Schera is single and currently lives in Santiago with two of his brothers.
