Medical Center

In the Dominican Republic poor and sporadic funding of public hospitals makes proper healthcare difficult for impoverished people to obtain. These hospitals are often plagued by strikes from the medical staff and often fail to have adequate supplies for everyday operations. It is not unusual to find a surgical patient whose wound is draining into a glass pop bottle, recovering in a large room with several other patients with varied ailments. If you can’t afford treatment at the private hospital, you are left in the care of a facility fighting to keep itself alive. Any illness creates a difficult situation; it’s one made worse if you happen to be sick and among the poorest of the poor.

G.O. Ministries has provided medical assistance and outreach to the people of the Dominican Republic for years. A daily general clinic in Hoya de Caimito, Santiago serves hundreds in that community and receives patients from 31 other communities if special attention is required. In partnership with North American doctors, medical professionals, and medical teams, thousands of urban and rural poor are served each year through mobile clinics.

But G.O. has a bigger vision. The G.O. Medical Center will provide space built for quality healthcare allowing for general medical services that will track patient history, an in-house pharmacy, laser eye surgery and preventative dentistry to patients who could not otherwise afford it. Because it will have apartment and dormitory space, mobile medical clinics will be offered weekly as will life enhancing surgeries from regularly scheduled visiting surgeries. The G.O. Medical Center will help us increase the quality and quantity of our health services to the marginalized exponentially!

Leadership Development Complex

Both in the Dominican Republic and Haiti there continues to be a tremendous need for integral leadership and economic stability. G.O. seeks to meet this need by establishing a multi-purpose campus that offers an enormous variety of sports activities and programming, various market appropriate business start-ups, a seminary that will cultivate pastoral leadership and community development on a local scale, and dormitory facilities that will host numerous short-term teams, allowing North Americans the opportunity to involve themselves in hands on partnership in each of these efforts. Through the Leadership Development Complex, G.O. seeks to establish a movement marked by the transformation of individuals and their communities and characterized by sustainability and the capacity to reproduce.

Sports Outreach
Sports outreach offers an alternative to the streets for hundreds of at risk urban youth and equips them with a vision to transform their communities by becoming agents of positive change.  After school programs will offer healthy opportunities in self-development as well as encourage young people to stay in school long term.  As leaders emerge they will have opportunities to become involved in a variety of community development initiatives spanning from health issues facing developing world communities to micro-business co-ops and startups.

The Complex will include multiple baseball fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, soccer fields, and indoor basketball courts as well.

Kingdom Businesses
The Leadership Development Complex will serve as an economic engine within the community.  A multitude of business startups and rental properties will provide sustainable income for the program at large.  Among the first phase of businesses will be apartment and office facilities available for rent, a block company, a welding shop, and motorcycle repair shop.  As these initial companies become profitable other startups will begin, each growing the opportunities for involvement for at risk youth in developing integrity, work ethic, and on the job experience giving them a vision not just for employment, but for business leadership.

The Seminary of the Americas
The Seminary of the Americas will be located on the campus.  We will offer vital theological and community development training for the next generation of leaders emerging from the churches in Hispaniola and Latin America equipping them to meet the spiritual and material needs of the impoverished communities they serve.  During the education of individuals, ministry teams will be developed.   They will identify the location of their church plant and be their own core group as they move into a new community.  Collectively they will have the ability to care pastorally for the community as well as implement basic technologies related to proper sanitation, water purification, off grid power development, sustainable agriculture, micro-loans and micro-business endeavors where such applications are contextually appropriate.  The goal is to develop reproducing, church planting, ministry teams that can enter communities capable of addressing the spiritual and material needs of the people through the local churches and local leadership resulting in redeemed people and renewed communities.
